Baltimore County police say the case stemmed from a domestic dispute and that there is no threat to the community.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Police in Baltimore County say a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a shooting at a Woodlawn hotel left a 23-year-old woman with a gunshot wound Tuesday morning.

Detectives identified the suspect as Hayden Hill and said he faces attempted first-degree murder charges. The woman was taken to a local hospital, and police described her injury as non-life-threatening.

Investigators said the arrest followed a response to the 6700 block of Security Boulevard shortly after 7:35 a.m. on Sept. 29.

Officers responded to Security Boulevard after 7:35 a.m.

According to the Baltimore County Police Department, officers were called to the hotel area in the 6700 block of Security Boulevard after a reported shooting that morning.

When they arrived, they found the 23-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police did not say exactly how the confrontation unfolded, but they did say the incident happened on Tuesday morning and involved a domestic dispute.

The shooting took place in Woodlawn, a busy suburban area west of Baltimore city that includes hotels, shopping and major roadways. The specific address was not released beyond the block location.

Detectives arrested Hayden Hill the following day

Violent Crimes detectives arrested Hill on Sept. 30, one day after the shooting, and charged him with attempted first-degree murder.

Police said the arrest came after investigators identified him in connection with the case. No additional suspects were mentioned, and officials said all parties involved were accounted for.

Hill was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, according to police. Authorities have not announced a court date or any other charges tied to the case.

Police say the victim's injuries were not life-threatening

The woman injured in the shooting was described by police as 23 years old. She was listed as a victim of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was expected to receive medical care at the hospital where she was taken.

That detail suggested the shooting was serious but not fatal, though county police have not released further information about her condition.

Because the case was tied to a domestic dispute, investigators said they were treating it as a contained incident rather than an open public threat.

County officials say there is no threat to the community

After Hill’s arrest, Baltimore County police said there was no threat to the community and that all people involved in the incident had been identified.

That reassurance came as detectives continued to work the case and piece together what happened before the shooting. Police have not said what led to the dispute or whether the hotel was the pair’s intended destination.

The case remains a serious felony investigation, but county officials indicated that no one else was being sought in connection with the shooting.

What is known about the hotel shooting so far

So far, police have said the shooting happened early in the morning on Sept. 29 at a hotel in the Woodlawn area of Baltimore County. A 23-year-old woman was wounded, and Hill was arrested the next day.

The charge filed against him is attempted first-degree murder, one of the most serious offenses under Maryland law. He is being held without bail while the case moves forward.
